The lap band ( gastric banding ) is simply a silicone belt that goes around the top of the stomach. The gastric banding system (lap band ) limits your food intake by controlling the feeling of hunger since you feel fulness. You eat less than before and take less calories. The lap band is placed laparoscopically with small incisions and secured with sutures. And the port is placed underneath the skin. The band may need adjustments. Additional saline may be injected through the port or if the band is too tight some fluid may be removed. The adjustments can be made on an outpatient basis following the surgery depending on the evaluations by your surgeon and your post-op feedbacks.
The surgery requires 1 night of hospital stay and you will stay for 6-7 days in the country for medical follow-up.
