Who is a Candidate For Hip/Knee Replacement Surgery

Arthritis sufferers are best advised that surgery should be performed when the pain becomes moderate to severe or they are substantially impaired.

Hip replacement is considered when the pain is so severe even with antiinflammatory/analgesic medications and limits normal functioning.
Your doctor will see your X-Ray and may request other tests for evaluation prior to surgery. Generally, patients with the following problems may need the surgery;

  • Osteoarthritis sufferers
  • Hip Fractures
  • Rheumatoid arthritis sufferers
  • Aseptic necrosis (death of the hip bone )
