Physical Therapy in The Hospital

The rehabilitation therapist will come to see you on the first day after your surgery and will teach you the safe way to get out of bed to prevent injuring or dislocating the hip.You will be told to put about 1/3 of your weight on your operated leg.You will also learn how to use a walker to raise your body to a standing position.You will be amazed at how quickly you will be walking.
You will have a visit from the rehabilitation therapist daily to practice walking and doing exercises.You will be encouraged to sit in a chair a couple of times a day.
Towards the end of your stay in the hospital, you will be tought to use crutches and yo go up and down stairs.

  • You will be ready to go home in about 5 or 7 days.You will usually be able to get in and out of bed unassisted and go to the bathroom by yourself, sit in a chair, get in and out of a car and in and out a shower, as well as climb stairs.
  • For some patients, a visiting nurse and or a therapist will make scheduled visits to you at home
  • You must be especially cautious for the first 12 weeks after surgery
  • Don’t bend your operated hip beyond a 90  angle 
  • Don’t cross your knees
  • Don’t lie on your side
  • Don’t sleep on your side
  • fter discharge from the hospital, you must stay for 1week in Turkey
